Christmas “Clara Cocktail” by Manoir Hovey Mixologist Warren Long

Tealeaves is excited to share with you a new festive recipe for those fond of magical tales, tastes, and sensations. Named the “Clara Cocktail”, this drink hails from the snowy north, crafted in collaboration with our friends at Manoir Hovey in Montreal, Canada. Let this hot delight keep you toasty while toasting as you fill your soul with Christmas “cheers!”

· THE “PRIMA BALLERINA” ·

Tealeaves Nutcracker Tea plays “prima ballerina” in this dazzling recipe. The blend features a full-bodied Ceylon black tea infused with the rich flavors of hazelnut and aromatic vanilla. Wonderful on its own and richly decadent with a drop of milk, be sure to snatch a tin or two of this seasonal blend for limited quantities are available.

· THE PERFECT “KICK” ·

With the Clara Cocktail, let notes of Tealeaves Nutcracker Tea play as memories of the Nutcracker Ballet prance to the tune of Tchaikovsky. Awaken your childhood fairytale with a “kick” of scotch and see your holiday prince come to life.

Notes from Warren Long, Mixologist at Manoir Hovey:

“When trying to come up with a cocktail for [Tealeaves] I wanted to do something that would be aromatic, after all, tea is as much about the aroma as the taste. I have always found that iced teas limit the aroma, so doing a hot drink seemed the natural course. Also, as noted, it is winter. The Nutcracker tea is perfect for the season: the Sortilege Maple Liquer matches well and brings a little Quebec to the drink.
However, Sortilege is quite sweet, so I added a simple whiskey.”

Dance over to Manoir Hovey in Montreal to have a taste or make a “pointe” to mix your own. Serve this drink among friends and family as it will be sure to evoke an “encore”!

· ingredients for Clara cocktail ·

1/2 oz

Sortilege maple liquor

1.5 oz

Scotch

2 dashes

Cacao bitters

4 oz

Yield: 1 Cocktail


· steps for Clara cocktail ·

Add ingredients into teacup.

Serve in brandy snifter for presentation.

Use brandy warmer to serve hot. The warmth will release the aroma of the scotch.
