Teas Out A New WorkoutMar.31.2014
Spring’s in full bloom and you know what that means… summer is just around the corner! As you crush your fitness goals in preparation for bathing suit season, why not maximize your gains by adding pure, authentic, heirloom teas into your regime?
· Boost that metabolism! ·
If you’ve never been a green tea drinker, you’re missing out on some seriously attractive health gains. Green tea is full of antioxidants and allows your body to detox. Catechin (present in green tea) helps increase metabolism while also enabling lots of other health-related benefits.
Magic potion? Ah, maybe not, but it sure comes close! Keep in mind that green tea is a diuretic and contains a small amount of caffeine. Anything with caffeine is dehydrating. For this reason it may be best to avoid drinking it immediately post-workout, when you need more hydration. Instead, reserve your daily green tea sipping for other occasions, like during your commute or after lunch.
· Hydrate that Fabulous Body ·
Tisanes and herbal infusions do not contain any caffeine, so they actually help replenish your body of lost water, making them perfect to drink after an invigorating workout. Brilliant hot or cold!
Fruit tisanes and herbals are very refreshing, taste great and have a slew of health benefits. They (along with actual teas) contain many nutrients that are important to our bodies, including Vitamins A, B2, C, D, E and Folic Acid (B9) and minerals such as Potassium, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium and Manganese.
· Not a tea drinker? ·
Or so you think! With hundreds of flavours to choose from, perhaps you have not found the flavour that fits you yet. Or perhaps you have been drinking unpleasant, artificially flavoured teas, or maybe old, flavourless teas (like the ones that have sat in your mother’s cupboard since you were five).
Why not see the new you sooner. Be experimental. Try new flavours. Be bold! Nobody is looking – ice that pear green tea. Above all, remember to have fun!
